I'm back... yet again!

A whole year of silence and it's well into the following year. Reason? None. Just excuses.

I'm back

Hello... yes all two of you who still drop by. Haha. Been busy with recovery and some work. Just dropping in to say "I'm still alive!". Am preparing for a little trip to England soon and will be back to catch...

Be well, people!

How quaint

I'm bitten by the flu bug as with everyone in my band... no work today. As I was surfing the net, reading all sorts of trivia and historical essays, I stumbled across Frank Swettenham's essay entitled 'The Real Malay'. An interesting read but the last paragraph caught my attention in particular. It reads as follows...

"...'if, after all this experience, she like me best, I have no fear that she will wish to go further afield. All Malay girls marry before they are twenty, and the woman who has only known one husband, however attractive he may be, will come sooner or later to the conviction that life with another promises new and delightful experiences not found in the society of the first man to whom destiny and her relatives have chosen to unite her. Thus some fool persuades her that in his worship and passion she will find the World's Desire, and it is only after perhaps a long and varied experience that she realises that, having started for a voyage on the ocean, she finds herself seated at the bottom of a dry well'. It is possible that thus she becomes acquainted with truth."

I wish her all the best.

New and improved!

After I was fit enough to stand upright and lift drag objects, I immediately started to work on my studio. Not IN my studio, ON my studio. That's right. Mr. easily-bored-with-my-furniture-arrangement is at it again! It's been three years since my last "move-the-equipment-about"... it's a wonder I lasted that long... Not only that, my brother generously 'invested' in a new PC for my little setup. We're running on Quad power, baby! Maxed out on RAM but still lacking in hard disk space (just a mere 350Gb combined). But still, it renders HD videos like a bat out of hell! I just renderred a 25-minute Full-HD (1080) video to SD format (DV PAL for streaming purposes) in 14 minutes flat! I love my machine... (thanks, bro!)

Well, here it is in all its glory and new-found zest... at least until all this moves to my new place in Damansara Damai next year (pesky elevators still do not work! Apa ni, MK???!!!).

On the work front, today was Ali Mpire, Ito Blues Gang, Farawahida, Victor Lee and Zehra Zambri's turn... good luck for Juara Lagu, girl! (She's sweet... I mean, really!)

Back in action

After a long hiatus since my surgery, I am back on track (well, almost).

I have been appointed as vocal producer for Malaysia's version of the official Beijing Olympics theme song. Good, isn't it (that we have a malay version)? Many thanks to Jack Teo of Universal Music Malaysia for hooking me up and Sean and the rest of the gang at MyMoosic for your confidence in yours truly. Thanks a whole bunch!

Everyone's involvement is voluntary upon invitation and the fact that I get to produce the likes of Ning Baizura, Jaclyn Victor, Daniel Lee, Dayang Nurfaizah, David 'Trima Kasey' Arumugam, Faizal Tahir, Ahlifiqir and Nikki (to name but just a few) is too enticing an invitation for me to turn down! A roster of around 40 acts to produce... I hope to chew this big piece I've bitten.

It's quite an experience, I must say. I discovered that Malaysia still has some 'undiscovered' (or underrated, rather) gems the likes of James Baum and Johnson Wee. Look out for these guys! It's off to work now for me. Will be right back really soon. Thanks to all the well-wishers, you guys take care now.
